Together
In recent years, loneliness has been a popular topic of discussion, with conversations revolving around loneliness among men, the marginalization of young people, and the unstimulated solitude of the elderly. Thanks to advances in technology and electronic devices, nowadays we can travel around the world and meet new people without ever leaving home. Others' lives are constantly within our reach, and we no longer need to form our own opinions on current issues due to there being plenty of ready-made ones on social media comments sections. This constant availability of information consumes our brains and energy, yet it does not fulfill our fundamental craving to socialize and meet other people. Despite living in an era of extreme individualism, we have not changed as human beings. We need each other. The harder the times get, the more we need each other. When students face student benefit cuts and there are no available summer jobs to apply for, friends may not provide money, but they can offer peer support and a shoulder to lean on.
At the beginning of the year, KY published a new strategy emphasizing the role of community, as does this issue of Kylteri. In the first few pages, we present the history of KY buildings as well as the new upcoming KY building. Once finished, it will serve as a hangout spot and a living room, welcoming all Kylteris. To make our magazine more approachable to each and every student, we have revived the KY Looks and campus interviews. As a lighthearted addition, we have included a horoscope section and a campus building -test. If you are looking for a more comprehensive read, look into the analysis of the artificial intelligence bubble in the stock market or an essay on the power of silence.
Something for everyone, let's read together <3
